Ely family papers, 1848-1875.

A collection of 13 letters from Elisha Ely written from San Francisco, Geyserville, and Clarville, California. In addition, there is a separate grouping of 10 letters written by Douglass Ely, a brother of Elisha Ely, from the Colorado Springs and Edgerton [sic] areas of the Colorado Territory written between 1871 and 1874. Each letter includes a full typescript transcription. Also includes a printed wedding announcement and name cards for Louise (or Louisa?) Ely and Benjamin Fowler in Healdsburg, Calif. and a typewritten transcript of "The Squatter Wars" in the Healdsburg area by Col. L.A. Norton that includes a resolution by the Washington township that references Elisha Ely as its secretary.
